From Mold to Piggy Bank
Automated Part Removal with Precision
Automated Part Removal with Precision
What looks simple at first glance requires precision automation behind the scenes. Together with our partner Dentec in Poland, we developed an automated handling solution for the Plastpol trade show that removes plastic piggy banks directly from the injection molding process, integrated into a WITTMANN Group automation system.
In the injection molding of plastic piggy banks, parts must be removed reliably and gently immediately after demolding. Since the parts undergo subsequent painting, the handling process must avoid any surface marking – a particular challenge given the parts’ high temperature and sensitivity right after ejection. At the same time, the EOAT system needed to remain flexible and quick to change over in order to accommodate varying production requirements.
Our Thermalon® vacuum cups were used to gently handle the piggy banks. They allow safe handling of hot plastic parts, a key requirement for high-quality painted surfaces. Being LABS- and silicone-free, the vacuum cups are also ideally suited for downstream painting processes. The EOAT system was further equipped with our SAFE-LOCK quick-change system, enabling fast gripper changes and maximum process reliability.
The automation solution delivers reliable part removal, increased productivity, and consistently high product quality. The combination of Thermalon® vacuum cups and the SAFE-LOCK quick-change system made the entire removal process both process-reliable and flexible.
