Our trade show interview with Michael Kaltenecker, Director of Ergonomic Handling at FIPA
Packed halls, lively discussions, and a palpable drive for innovation in intralogistics: LogiMAT 2026 once again demonstrated the significant impact that automation and flexible handling solutions are having on the industry. At our booth, the focus was primarily on practical applications, specific customer requirements, and new ideas for efficient material flows.
In our LogiMAT recap, Michael Kaltenecker, Director of Ergonomic Handling, summarizes which requirements were particularly influential and which solutions took center stage.
Michael, what did you think of LogiMAT 2026?
Michael Kaltenecker: Excellent! LogiMAT has always been important to us and to the entire logistics industry, but I get the impression that it is increasingly becoming the leading logistics trade fair in Europe. Despite the supposed general economic downturn, visitor numbers were higher than in previous years, and the willingness to invest was exceptionally high. Visitors didn’t just come out of curiosity; they actually brought many concrete projects with them for us to discuss.
Which highlights at our booth were the most popular with visitors?
Michael Kaltenecker: This year, we introduced a very compact and easily maneuverable crane with an articulated boom, paired with our FIPALIFTswift tube lifter. We received an exceptionally positive response to it. Visitors were particularly impressed by the fact that it can be moved back and forth between different workstations using a simple pallet jack, and that it arrives at their site ready to use with minimal effort.
What would you say are the main reasons why trade show visitors are interested in our FIPALIFT tube lifters?
Michael Kaltenecker: In countless conversations, it has become increasingly clear that it is becoming more and more important for companies to keep their employees healthy. Finding suitable staff remains a challenge, which is why it is all the more important to protect and support existing employees as best as possible.
What role do employees’ health and well-being play in terms of a company’s long-term productivity?
Michael Kaltenecker: Employees who take leave due to back problems are typically absent for a very long time. The simple calculation is to weigh the cost of continued pay against the manageable investment. However, the situation is often even more complex, as it is not just a matter of losing a worker, but specifically trained employees with in-depth expertise — a loss that often carries even greater weight.
